 Rat Cage Bedding

It is extremly important what bedding you put your rats in and money shouldn't be the object when choosing rat bedding, however, that doesn't mean that you have to spend a fortune on a healthy comfie bedding for your rat's cage. Its actually very cheap and effective to make your own home made bedding. There are also nice and healthy beddings in the store to buy. As the majority of rat owner's know, a rat should never ever be placed in cedar or pine shavings, rats are very senseative to the dust in shaving bedding and it can highly increase the chance of serious respitory infection in a very short period of time.

If you are still not sure whether or not you should purchase store bedding from a store, or make some of your own, you should reconsider some things. Care Free bedding is one of the best, most high quality beddings on the market. However, you can make a similar bedding to carefresh at home, with spending very little money. Most people use cedar shavings because it is cheap, although in just a matter of time costs serious health problems raising vet bills sky high. From the start, I never ever used cedar shavings. From my experience, a aquarium can promote respitory problems aswell.

Here is a cheap home made recipe to make your own bedding like Care Free: You will need a strainer, newspaper, and bleach. Bleach the newspaper and pound it on the strainer. Squeeze the ink out. Clump the paper up and let dry in window or in front of fan. Clump up, then place in rat's cage when dry and watch your rats enjoy the Fresh bedding! It works pretty well, I use it for my rats and have had no problems so far. They seem to enjoy the bedding, as we enjoy the money savings, and the relief knowing we have happy healthier rats!
